Mark Cummings is a young Classical Realist who was always drawn to traditional painting.
Like many of those who want to paint realistically, Cummings spent a number of |
frustrating years working alone to improve his work.
Eventually he found his way to the Angel Academy, a private atelier in the heart of Florence, Italy, where 19th-Century French Academic methods and ideals are taught to students. After several years of painting in Italy, Cummings returned to the United States and settled in Orange County, California.
He paints rich still lifes in the Baroque tradition and figurative works of young, contemporary subjects utilizing time-honored techniques. Cummings is also a talented pastelist who participates in shows where the artists actually paint elaborate compositions directly on the sidewalk, bringing a new meaning to the term "street artist."
